Kadena – Toru Kyan (62, Zakimi, Yomitan), vice president of the Okinawa Kenpo Karate-do Association, held a karate training exchange praying for and to the Russian invasion of Ukraine on June 3 at the Kadena Children’s Center. He was joined by 20 participants including the heads of the Nakagusuku Junior Karate School (in Nakagusuku) and the Okinawa Goju-ryu Karate-do Jin-do-kan (in Uruma), who all collectively prayed for world peace.

The participants tried different kata and had friendly bouts from each of the different schools of karate. After the training session they all got together in silent prayer, wishing for a world with no more war. Kyan said, “I hope that peace comes to Ukraine as soon as possible.”
