Okinawa – August 10 was Kyu-bon Unke, the first day of Obon in Okinawa. All over the prefecture, local youth organizations participated in Michi-june parades to honor their ancestors, performing the Eisa dance as they proceeded through the towns.

For many of the youth organizations, it was the first Michi-june in three years because of COVID-19. As the majestic sounds of the taiko and the sanshin echoed through the night, locals gathered along the roads to watch the dancing.
